Dr. Marin Boroe specijalist obiteljske medicine i integrativne medicine

I am a UK-trained GP with a background in general surgery. I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka in 2004 and completed specialist training in general surgery in 2014 at University Hospital Centre Rijeka, where I worked independently within general and oncological surgery services.

Earlier in my career, I worked in an island-based dialysis unit and as part of an emergency medical team, gaining experience in acute and high-pressure clinical settings. During my years in surgery, my clinical work focused primarily on the surgical management of abdominal wall hernias and breast cancer, alongside broader peri-operative and inpatient care.

In 2017, I moved to the United Kingdom and joined Nottingham University Hospitals, where I continued to work in surgical services and peri-operative care. Over time, my clinical focus increasingly shifted towards understanding patients beyond the immediate diagnosis and working with health in a broader, longer-term context.

A new direction: Integrative medicine

A new direction: Integrative medicine

This led me to retrain in General Practice. In 2018, I began GP training with Health Education England South West (Peninsula Deanery), gaining experience across paediatrics, psychiatry, geriatrics and acute medicine. After completing GP training, I worked as a General Practitioner within the emergency care setting at North Devon District Hospital.

Alongside clinical practice, I am involved in medical education and work with undergraduate medical students at the University of Exeter Medical School as a trained assessor and mentor.

My interest in integrative medicine developed alongside my GP work. I completed postgraduate training in integrative medicine at the National Centre for Integrative Medicine (NCIM) in Bristol and formal training in medical acupuncture through the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS).

I currently work within the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. In my private practice, I combine conventional medicine with integrative, evidence-informed approaches through individual consultations, preventive programmes and longer-term care where appropriate.

My approach

My approach

I believe that health is more than the absence of disease. In clinical practice, it reflects a dynamic balance between physical health, mental wellbeing, lifestyle and environment.

Integrative medicine does not replace conventional medicine. It complements it by combining established medical practice with carefully selected, evidence-informed approaches that aim to support recovery, resilience and long-term health.
